JANUARY 28—It is three fifteen p.m. on this bitter January full moon day. Outside, in the west, the sun blazes from a pale winter sky. Inside, shining up from the bottom of my kitchen sink, I see an astonishing image—another full moon. It is—by accident, through an alchemical process involving dishwasher detergent and a copper-bottomed pan—imprinted on my favorite aluminum baking sheet.
I have ruined it. But oh what a photograph it makes.
How often have I missed the quietly sublime because it is too ordinary and too close? Or, because I see it as a mistake and a mess?
That’s a beautiful image even though it was an accident. It still took your artistic eye to appreciate it. I might have to ruin some pans today.
I think you made it more better ;) It is so beautiful as is your unique way of seeing and expressing sublime truth and personal unfolding. Keep it up, Cara, even if it feels like it's only for yourself. It most certainly is not! We ripple out, embrace the rippling, My Friend!
